Welcome to the official TFL approved fanlisting for the TV show "Cagney and Lacey".Cagney and Lacey first hit our screens on the 8th October 1981 as a TV Movie which was also the Pilot for the series. After a positive response CBS commissioned six episodes. The first episode aired on the 25th March 1982 and starred Meg Foster as Christine Cagney. Five episodes later Sharon Gless took on the role and starred alongside Tyne Daly until the final episode was broadcast on the 16th May 1988, six years later. There were also four reunion movies after the final episode was aired. In total there was 125 Cagney and Lacey episodes made.
Cagney and Lacey was a TV show about two women who were detectives. They were partners but they were also friends and they each brought their own skills to the table. Mary Beth Lacey (Tyne Daly) is a mother and a wife, compassionate and level headed. Christine Cagney (Sharon Gless) is tough, single, career-focused and quick to anger. Together they made a formidable team that could more than match their male counterparts. Cagney and Lacey was a very realistic show, they didn't always get the bad guys, there was no gratuitous car chases or shootouts and real issues were portrayed like rape, incest, alcoholism and racism.
