What is a fanlisting?
In this case a fanlisting is a place for all the fans of a particular TV show and book series to come together and build a listing of all the people around the world who are also fans. For more information on fanlistings please visit The Fanlistings.org.
TV show and book series?
Diagnosis Murder was a TV series first of all but after the show was not brought back for a tenth season one of the old, and the best, executive producers, Lee Goldberg, got contracted to write a tie-in book series. This series is set in the fifth and sixth season of the show, which are unquestionably the shows best seasons, and continue pretty much where the show left off. It's not difficult to imagine the books being some of the best episodes of the show they fit so seamlessly but they also offer an oppertunity to see events which could never happen, like Jack Stewart (from the early seasons) and Jesse Travis (from the later seasons) meeting and being rivals before becoming friends.
Why is this site called Blood Ties?
When Blossom said that I could adopt the fanlisting I couldn't think of a good site title. I went through loads of bad ideas until I decided to go back and watch a couple of episodes for inspiration. Naturally I watched my favourite episodes, one of those is called Blood Ties. The fact that an episode is called that didn't seem enough until I started to think about it and realised how well it fitted. The show focuses on Mark and Steve, a father and son team, despite the fact that Mark is a doctor not a detective. In real life Mark and Steve are father and son as well (played by Dick and Barry Van Dyke) therefore there's a strong family connection, a strong blood tie. One of my favourite things about the show is the interaction between Mark, Steve, Jesse and Amanda, it feels real, like they are a family even if there are no actual blood ties the bond between them is just as strong. Hence the name.
The layout
I got the images used from the stock exchange, specifically here, here, here and here. The pattern is from Squidfingers. The font used is Annie BTN.
Dislaimer
I don't own Diagnosis Murder and am in no way affiliated with CBS. This is not an official fanlisting or fansite, it's just a fans tribute to their favourite show. If any powers that be want anything removed please email me - fan [at] binded-souls.net
